*photoshoot* – Melissa & Ryan

Ryan flew from New York City to visit Melissa during the Memorial holiday weekend. Since Ryan was in town, Melissa asked if I could do a photoshoot for them. Of course I couldn’t say no! I love photography too much to turn down anything :).

The night before the photoshoot, I asked Melissa to bring some props that represented their relationship. I thought it was really creative of her to bring souvenirs from the cities they both originate. Both Melissa and Ryan prove that their love is strong despite being in two distant cities. 🙂

This crystal flower was the first gift that Ryan had ever given Melissa. So precious!

The chemistry that Melissa and Ryan both share is pure magic. They were completely themselves during the photoshoot, which made my job much easier ;).

You can really tell that Melissa is so comfortable and protected in Ryan’s arms.

Melissa is definitely a character. She knows how to steal the attention away from Ryan’s shot!

I wanted to try something new with this photoshoot and that was to incorporate the pond in the foreground of my photo. We communicated via cell phone on speakerphone. I’ve never been so far away from my subjects before when doing a photoshoot, but it really worked out!

What was really unique taking photos of the cute couple across the pond was that there were a TON of seagulls flying everywhere! It was really cool capturing them in the photos :).

What do you know… a seagull right next to me 🙂

This photo took me by surprise when I saw that a seagull had flew into my focal point!

Despite there being a ton of people at the Palace, I was able to eliminate everyone by using a tilt-shift lens shooting wide open. Doesn’t it look like they are the only one on the island? ;D

Melissa and Ryan are totally cute! Maybe one day those flowers will turn into a ring??? 😉

Last but not least, some of my favorite photos from the session! Doesn’t it look like they’re in a snow globe?

I definitely had a blast photographing Melissa and Ryan. They are a perfect match for each other. I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to capture these precious moments for them :).

For a moment there, I thought this was an engagement shoot!

    Well done 🙂

This is a great set, especially the selective focusing shots and I loved the idea of the dome being directly overhead. Palace of Fine Arts is a common wedding shoot area, and you made it unsual and fun. Good work.

The fisheye ones are my favorites. Perfect background and composition for the effect

I didn’t think I would’ve got any shots like this until the couple asked to get some photos inside the dome. That’s when it struck me that I had the perfect lens to capture the entire dome 🙂

WOW, JASMINE! YOU ARE AN AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER. LOVE THE ONES WHERE YOU FOCUSED ON A SMALL PROP AND THE COUPLE WAS BLURRED. THE SNOW GLOBES ARE SOOOO CREATIVE. ACTUALLY I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PHOTO!!! I’M SURE MELISSA AND RYAN WILL LOVE THEM TOO. ARE YOU SHOOTING THEIR WEDDING. EVEN HAVING LIVED IN SF FOR 2 YEARS AND VISITING A COUPLE OF TIMES, WOULD YOU BELIEVE I’VE NEVER BEEN TO THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS. I’LL JUST HAVE TO GO BACK! LOL.

    • Jasmine Lee says:

Haha, they are not engaged (yet) ;p… haha. The Palace is definitely a must place to visit in the city. It’ll take your breath away once you see it!

Wow Jas, you definitely threw everything you had at this one! I’m sure the couple will be thrilled with the results. The fisheye shot is gold. Well done!

  10. […] Melissa is a dear friend of mine and I’m so sad to report that she has moved to the East Coast last month. But what better way to wish her goodbye than to throw her a farewell party with her awesome friends. The party was held at Central Park in Millbrae and hosted by her close friends, Lam and Amanda. Lam was also the official cook of the event and boy… she sure can cook up a delicious storm! Check out the menu once you scroll down. The party was ah-maaa-zing! Melissa has the best and caring friends and I am so honored to have documented this special day for her. Melissa was so spirited and happy that it was nothing but big smiles and laughs from her. […]
