Hey everyone! This blog is another restaurant/food blog. I really enjoy taking a bunch of photos while dining. I think editing them are also very fun :). So this time my work and I went to La Mar on Pier 1.5. It’s pretty close to the Ferry Building. This restaurant is a Latin American/Seafood/Peruvian restaurant and their food was very tasteful. The restaurant itself has a unique and spacious vibe to it, too. We went there for lunch and they have an extensive selection of food to choose from (I heard their dinner menu was even bigger). I opted for the grilled octopus since the waiter sold me on that one. But I was really disappointed when they placed the food in front of me because it was only three, 3-inch skewers of octopus. I would call that an appetizer… not an entree. But I wouldn’t use this example to speak for their serving size since what I witnessed from my co-workers entrees, the portions they serve seem decent. Probably enough to make you feel full but not stuffed. Also the prices were all under $20… Not bad.
We sat out on the patio so I had great lighting to work with. But the heaters seemed to come on and off so it got a little cold… I even broke out in hives :(. Alright, enough talking… I’m sure you are just waiting for the photos, haha.
Seafood Bar
Octopus! and crab… I took this while walking so it’s not that sharp.
Instead of serving bread, La Mar serves chips and banana chips! Very tasty!
My Octopus entree… so teeny tiny! But it was very yummy. They were served on top of bite size mashed potatoes.
“Almuercito Criollo” – Mixed seafood cebiche, potato and fried calamari, grilled sea bass
Not sure which sandwich this is…
“Bunuelos de chocolate” – Orange glazed chocolate beignets with banana and passion fruit ice cream
And here is my dessert! Yes, this made up for my dinky entree…
“Degustacion de lucuma” – Tasting trio of: tiramisu with lucuma mousse; caramel cannoli with lucuma foam; coconut chocolate souffle with lucuma ice cream
Yup, you know me… I love my desserts! 🙂
Never knew this place existed. Nice presentation. Thanks to your photos, I will pay the restaurant a visit and give them a try.
I don’t think you will be disappointed (hopefully). It is very good 🙂
Wow that looks so good Jasmine. Your food photography is top notch hehe. Sucks that your entre was so small though 🙁 I would have been disappointed too.
Well done Jasmine! I agree with Kelven on your food photography. You’re definitely a natural. I’m gonna have to try this place out!
Thank you Kelven and Jonathan! Definitely a great place to try Peruvian food :)… It’s also a HUGE restaurant in the city!!
