Hello to you again! 🙂 I finally have a chance to post my photos from last week’s fire dancing show: Temple of Poi. The show was hosted in Union Square in Downtown San Francisco on April 23, 2011. The show lasted about 2 hours with no breaks and best of all, it was completely free to attend! 🙂 If you had a camera, anyone could pretty much be admitted into the photographer’s section. There were a TON of photographers! Perhaps if you were there, you may be in some of my photos that I took.
It was my first time shooting these types of long exposures. I found that an exposure of 1.5 to 3 seconds gave you the best results for the fire dancing. I’m pretty happy with the results I got. Though the event was a ton of fun, I came down with extremely bad allergies the next day. It took me out of work for 3 days and I am still a bit sick as I type this :(. But anyhow, I hope you enjoy the photos! 🙂
I shot 95% of these shots with my 24-70 lens. The close ups where you can see faces I used my 70-200 lens.
Can you believe this lady was pregnant while doing this?! Talk about risk and dedication!! 🙂 ^^
Union Square on FIRE!!!

Hey Glen! Hope you had a great trip. That’s really awesome all your filters came in. Enjoy them! Can’t wait to see the pics you produce. Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
Jasmine, these are so cool!! My fav is the seventh from the last up, where the guy is on his side and there is a small trail to the fire, he looks like one of those fighters from video games!! Super cool!!!
Thank you Adriana! Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
Fire dancing is a very dangerous performance art, and fire safety precautions should always
be taken.
Wow, amazing! Love these! And I’ll bet it was even better in person! Although I always find it very hard to just enjoy being a spectator when you’re madly trying to shoot. 🙂
