Derrick planned one of the most romantic proposals I’ve had the pleasure of photographing! He wanted to surprise his girlfriend Christine by renting out the entire Filoli Gardens for themselves. They would have their own private moments to roam the gardens without visitors at every corner. Derrick also had Sutro Strings Quartet play throughout the entire proposal. With the help of Derrick’s friends Matt and Efferman, we all hid quietly while Christine and Derrick walked around. Once they had passed the Sunken Gardens, Sutro Strings Quartet quickly ran out and set up their chairs and started playing immediately. When Christine and Derrick made their way back to the Sunken Gardens, Sutro Strings Quartet played “Marry Me” by Bruno Mars. The entire proposal was romantic and we got a “YES!” The moment was so beautiful to witness and capture at the same time. Afterwards, we went to a few of my favorite spots to photograph a few photos.
