Road Race & New Lens

Over the weekend, my siblings and I drove out to Fremont, CA to watch my little brother compete in his first bicycle race of the year. It was really nice to spend time with my two older brothers and little brother’s girlfriend as we watched Joe race. Shooting his race gave me the opportunity to try out my new lens (yes, I got ANOTHER new lens ;x), the Canon 70-200mm F2.8 L IS II USM lens. Boy, that lens was expensiveeeee! But let me tell you… it’s the BEST lens and investment I have ever made! This lens is incredibly sharp and fast. The bokeh is, I SWEAR, BUTTER. Butter bokeh! Mmm… yup :). I don’t regret buying it and shooting Joe with this lens just made photography THAT much more fun!

All photos were taken with the new 70-200mm lens (except the very last photo). I’m extremely happy with the shots that I got considering it was my first time shooting a race. I’m really proud of Joe for finishing 7th (or 6th) place out of 30 guys. He’s been out of season for a year so finishing top 10 is wonderful accomplishment.

Great job, Joe!

My older brother shooting with his camera. See, BUTTER BOKEH! πŸ˜€

Some of the coolest tires!

Man, I would LOVE to have his job… or lens πŸ˜‰

The Beginning of the race.

This photo (above) has to be one of my favorites. I love the composition and how they all are slightly leaning to their right side. Joe was in second place here.

Got my panning shot! ;D This was done with the camera, no Photoshop.

I love Joe’s expression here. He had just made the finish line and he was pulling so hard to go as fast as he could!

What better way to end with some yummy chicken wings from Wing Stop for lunch! Ooh delicious…. πŸ™‚

I really enjoyed shooting him. I will most likely go to more of his meets to take more photos of him.Β  I’m so excited about this new lens and maybe I’ll do a separate blog/review on it sometime soon? These are just some of my favorite photos that I took and wanted to share with you all. Hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading! πŸ™‚
