Personal: Las Vegas Trip — Day 1 of 4

I finally have some down time to go through my own personal photos. Yay! I’d like to share with you my Las Vegas pictures that I took last month when I shot Larry and Fiona’s Bellagio Wedding. It was a working vacation and I really had a fun time shooting everything that caught my eyes.

Since Larry and Fiona are close family friends, I traveled with my parents on Southwest Air. Our flight was at 7AM which gave me one of the best opportunities to shoot a few landscapes outside the airplane window. The light touching the clouds and the shadows casting over the mountain was surreal.

For the photo geeks reading this, here’s a mini review for you.

I traveled with my Think Tank Airport Antidote V2.0 backpack. It held all my gear that I needed to shoot the wedding and more. I meant to post these photos onto Amazon.com but I haven’t had the chance to do so yet. But anyhow, I wanted to show how the backpack DOES fit under the airplane seat in front of me. Well, maybe not in the photo below. If you stuff the laptop compartment (on the front of the bag), it won’t slide under the seat all the way… At least on the Southwest plane it didn’t. The photo below was pushed in until it wouldn’t slide anymore. I didn’t have a laptop in the front, but I had a book and a bunch of other gadgets in there.

In order to make it fit, you need to remove almost all the bulky stuff that you store in the laptop compartment. So now, it fits!! I haven’t tried this with an actual laptop yet, but let’s hope that the backpack does fit under the plane with the laptop. 🙂 The only thing that irked me about sliding the backpack under the seat is the huge buckle in the front kept getting caught under the seat. But other than that, I love this backpack!

Moving along, I took out my Canon 70-200mm lens and shot away. The nice thing about a telephoto lens is that it gets in close and crops out the airplane’s wing which gives you a nice aerial view of the mountains and clouds.

I even got a shot of the entire Las Vegas strip from my seat! Score!! 😀

Once we landed, my parents and I scouted the Bellagio to find areas where I thought would make a great photo for the bride and groom. I did a few test exposures to see what it may look like. The rest of the photos were taken with the Canon 35mm 1.4 lens.

This is a picture of my mom and I. Also, here’s what my very boxy and HEAVY (it must have weighed 20 pounds) Think Tank backpack looked on my very petite frame. 🙂

Look! A “Jasmine” restaurant. 😀 After scouting, my parents and I checked into our own hotel at Planet Hollywood.

The photo below is the lobby of the New Planet Hollywood PH Towers by Westgate hotel.

For dinner, we went to Noodles Restaurant inside the Bellagio.

It was a very nice first day in Las Vegas. Day 2 was the wedding day which you can find those photos here. But in my next post, I’ll blog a few photos of what I did in between and after the wedding.

Thanks for hanging out and stay tuned for the next blog!

Please don’t forget to subscribe to my new Facebook page. It will mean a ton to me! 😀
